National Employment Trends



The unemployment rate in Canada was 6.6% as of March 2025, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.9% below the peak in June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 15,500 fewer full-time jobs in March 2025 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 30,400 part-time positions led to an increase of 14,900 total jobs in March.
Full-time employment was down 15,500 jobs from the peak in February 2025.
